Tonight we made another stop on the Burger Tour 11-12!
Tonight we went to The Oaks Gourmet. Um....amazing.
It is a market, and has barely any seating, but everything on the menu looks and smells amazing. And the burger did NOT disappoint.
The Dry Aged Burger
A half poud of our dry aged blend with taleggio cheese, black forest bacon, red onion, tomato, baby arugula, and our smoked jalapeno-pineapple compote on toasted brioche
WHAT???!!! you won't even believe what hit your mouth. it jumped right up to our number one spot. GO THERE.
Also, as a side note: it is a really really great place to people-watch.

Picture 92: Grill Em All Truck
Stop #3 on the Burger Tour 2011: Grill Em All Truck. Aaaaaaaaamazing!! Seriously. You all need to chase this truck down and order something. There were four of us, four different burgers ordered, and every single one of them was delicious.
#1 - Waste Em All: green chilies, pepper jack, beer soaked onion
#2 Hannah Montana: American, lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup (substitute cheddar cheese for American)
#3 Blue Cheer: bleu cheese, cranberry gastrique, Munchos
#4 Witte: cream cheese, deep fried bacon, beer/ Sriracha onion, malt vinegar aioli
We put this truck straight to the top of our everyday burger category. Have I told you about our rankings yet? We broke the burgers up into two categories: everyday burgers (those wrapped in paper) and fancy burgers...you know, the ones that come on glass plates!

Picture 69: Pie n Burger
Dinner tonight? Pie n Burger...stop #2 on our Burger Tour 2011. The cheeseburger was delicious. But I couldn't just leave after devouring that...I mean, I think it would almost be a sin, PIE is in the name of the restaurant!

Picture 35: Baby's Badass Burgers
Lizzo, Roberto and I are on a mission in 2011 to try the best burgers in Southern California. You might remember that I posted a link to the Huffington Post a few weeks back when they listed the top 24 (according to...........them?). We decided we would try them and give our own review. We had all three been to 2 of them already (In-n-Out and The Counter) so we crossed them off the list already.
So tonight started the adventure: Baby's Badass Burgers. A food truck.
LETDOWN.
Okay, to be fair. The burgers themselves were not all that bad, but they were nothing I would chase the truck down for again. I got one of their baby burgers with mushrooms, swiss cheese, grilled onions and their special sauce. It tasted just fine (although I do think that the hawaiian bread it was on was the best part of the burger!). But I think what was "lacking" was the whole experience.
The truck was a half hour late and then we ended up waiting another half hour after we ordered to get our food (and we were third in line!) I think the whole reason these burgers ended up on the top 24 list anyway was only because there are girls that run the whole thing in tight fitting clothes - pretending they don't know how to count change - and talking in exaggerated tones. I am sorry to say, but I think I maybe got dumber by going there. It was actually painful waiting in line listening to people order their "She's Smokin' Maneater".
At least the company was good :)

Picture 20: burgers
I love hamburgers.
There has been a debate I have heard about for a while that I never joined in on because I didn't understand both sides: Fatburger vs. In-n-Out.
I can now say, after today's lunch, I am going to stay on the side of In-n-Out. Fatburger is not a bad burger, but it is no In-n-Out.
Speaking of burgers, the Huffpost did a great blog on the top 25 best burgers in Southern California. I think it is going to become my goal this year to try all of the burgers on this list (I might draw the line on the burger sushi....I can't really wrap my hand around that, but at least the other 24!) So if anyone near me wants to try a great burger, let me know. I'll be happy to have you join me!
